Tips For Gaining Muscle

June 16th, 2009 | by admin |

These days, there are more and more people using weights for fitness, and this is down to media exposure on health and fitness. However, being able to gain muscleis not as easy as the infomercials for the various fitness products and supplements would have us believe. Actually, growing muscle quickly, however they claim it. it takes consistent work to get lean toned and ripped muscles.

Big mistake number one that a lot of people do when they are trying to build muscle is imitate what they have seen others do that they think has made them big. The reason being is that a lot of these guys are naturally built that way and do not need to train correctly. Copying their routines will not guarantee you resullts, and may in fact cause you to injure yourself. Instead why not try a different approach that will help you build muscle properly even though it may not be the fastest in the world. Your approach will ideally also prevent both physical and mental overtraining; doing too much too soon can bring disastrous consequences, such as ripping  the muscle tissues, straining of the ligaments, dislocation of the joints, and even the breaking of the bones.

In that cas, how should you proceed in your training? Well, the first kind of exercises you should think of are ones that build strength. Muscle comes from being strong, want bigger muscles then you need more strength. Weight lifting is highly recommended because it allows you to start off light and, overtime, add weight as desired. Start with an empty bar and research on the proper techniques. With every workout session, add weight to push your body out of its comfort zone.

Now although there are lots of machines available, try and use free weights too. The reason I say this is because free weights can in fact help improve your muscle building efforts better than machines. Machines incline to force you into affected angles that are given to injuries, where free weights promote natural movements. The other thing is that machines will balance the weight and not you, balancing the weight with free weights builds stronger muscles. Finally, reliable machines are extremely expensive, whereas the best free weights are relatively cheap. Mix your exercises up with barbells and dumbells. Using barbells as the main tool for your big lifts on things like bench press and squats, and then use dumbells for concentrated exercises

These simple tips will be ideal for getting you up and running as you start to gain muscle. For more muscle building routines, visit the nearest gym and refer with a health professional, and always consult with a physician bfore starting any fitness regime.
